Frisbee—Beware of the Meatster

We are heading out.

P.S. I don’t know if I should be sad, of the faCT THAT THE OLD LIBRARY HAS BEEN LEVEL.
I do like the open
ness of the site where the library once stood.

The lone video room has a strong image of fanciful architecture
which was prominent in this pARTs.

I LIKED LAST YEARS ART BASEL (2004)
main show in CONVENTION CENTER BETTER
THAN This YEARS. THE CONVENTION CENTER
FLOOR LAY-OUT confused me A bit…it
wasnt AS cLEAR A WALK AS other year.

There was too much ART ‘KITch’ AND
NOT ENOUGH CLASSICAL OR NEO-MODERISM
exibited.

* I Hope ART BASEL stays in a Realm of integrity and
Art Sensibility . . . . AND NOT give
way into A circus-Like CARNIVAl ARENA
To ATTRACT MORE DOLLAR paying
CUSTOMERS …as South Beach has become !!!

I’d Like to SEE MORE OLD-WORLD influences
for future shows . . . AND a colaboration
with N.Y. AND LonDon ART circles.

U
I was here two years ago and the scene then was a little different.
There were less tall buildings and more homeless. Now there are more tall bu
buildings and less homeless. I am thinking if the ground can hold all those
beautiful buildings safely. In regard to the homeless, I fel more
compassion for them
I studied music so
I guess It opened up

Maybe a little
music therapy
can help
them out

[Curator’s note: There was also another sheet of paper that appeared to have been typed by the same author, so it is included below.]

…two years ago and I noticed that many thing have changed. There are more tall
nd the landscapeing has benn improved, It’s now beginning to look like Cancun a

I think the tall building are too much for this small area. Can the ground u
underneath hold on to all that weight. Let’s not get carried away with that.

More contributions from The Room…finally

Comment first! »

It has been a long and busy couple of months here in the Art Services department at MDPLS, and we are finally getting around to update The (Decom)Press Room blog with the sudden influx of contributions that accumulated during the week after Art Basel Miami Beach. The installation came down on December 9th, 2005.

Some of the typed/written comments will follow above; scanned images will come later. Most of the typed and written comments are on plain white typing paper. Spacing, typos, and indents have been replicated here as faithfully as possible.

There are new contributions to post, but the (decom)press room Blog Update Gnome has not been able to get over to the Miami Beach Regional Library to pick them up and transcribe them. Hopefully, the Update Gnome will be able to do this tomorrow.

In the meantime, the (decom)press room is open until this Friday, December 9! After that, we must vacate the premises to make room for a previously scheduled flamenco performance which will be taking place in that space on Saturday.

the (decom)press room proved to be perhaps too much of a refuge this weekend, as you can see by the small number of responses. Fortunately, the old-school typewriters and tape recorders, as well as the paper, transparencies, markers, and overhead projectors are still there and ready for your input. The Miami Beach Regional Library has kindly agreed to host the project for a while longer (exact closing date TBA), so you can still stop by, check it out, and contribute thoughts, stories, and ideas related to your ABMB experience–or lack of it.

What else can I say about Art Basel…is that how you pronounce it? OK, whatever. To sell and promote art, it’s not bad for the community. But then, what do we gain from it? Well, I have no knowledge of art per se, but I listen to music, I can read, I can sing. I know how when you’re presenting good music, you’re against inferior stuff. The same applies to art–you know, one man’s treasure is another man’s garbage, so what you may find beautiful I may not necessarily find beautiful. But my impression of this is like I said before–it’s just another way of exhibiting art.

well i thought it was quite interesting that after having being in europe for such a long time
i thought it was cool that it came down here to south florida so we
can all enjoy the fantastic and complex artwork so i like i think it should get more
publicity. i love the artwork so all i have to say is who ever has not
seen at lae oops least 1 piece of artwork from art basel you should really check it out
